About Us
Lorn and Oban Reuse Initiative (LORI) is a Social Enterprise Company set up in 2009 which is now a project of The Group for Recycling in Argyll & Bute Trust Limited (GRAB), our aims are to:
Divert and reuse furniture and other household objects before they reach the waste stream.
Provide volunteer job and training opportunities for the long-term unemployed and community service offenders.
Provide low cost furniture to the homeless to furnish their new property.
We work with many public agencies throughout Argyll who share our goals to target those in need of low cost furniture packs.
We have a large capacity showroom, a workshop and a small office/showroom located on the Shanks landfill site outside of Oban, putting us
in the unique position to directly receive goods before they enter landfill.
We have our own high capacity van and offer free delivery of
purchased items and pick-up of donated items within a 10 mile radius of Oban with a minimal fuel charge for things
farther afield.
Come and Volunteer at LORI
We have a variety of activities on offer, together with opportunities to learn new skills and make new friends. Through training partnerships volunteers are able to access Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Computing, PAT testing and First Aid training, which offers valuable work experience. If you want to volunteer and have difficulty with reading, writing or numeracy, LORI will facilitate a training placement for you at Community Education.
New volunteers are always welcome to join the team at Lorn and Oban Reuse Initiative.
